Rift Valley Acacia

Harvested from the Rift Valley by the Ogiek, Dorobo, and Samburu communities, this 14-ounce jar of raw, light amber acacia honey is harvested and processed without pesticides, chemicals, fine filtering, or pasteurization. Each batch of acacia is unique, so no two jars look or taste exactly alike!

The Ogiek are one of Kenya’s oldest forest-dwelling communities. Renowned for their beekeeping knowledge, honey has always been central to Ogiek culture and survival. The Dorobo community, traditionally hunter-gatherers, has relied on honey as a key food source and trade item for generations. The Samburu community lives in the arid and semi-arid lands of northern Kenya, where they have mainly pastoral-based livelihoods and honey sales allow them to diversify their income sources. 

Organized honey harvesting in these communities provides households with sustainable income to support education, healthcare, and daily needs. Beekeeping also encourages environmental conservation, as healthy ecosystems are essential for sustainable honey production.
