Mt. Elgon Hibiscus

The Pokot community harvested and processed this 14-ounce jar of raw, amber hibiscus honey from the Mount Elgon forests without pesticides, chemicals, fine filtering, or pasteurization. Each batch of hibiscus is unique, so no two jars look or taste exactly alike!

The Pokot community of north-western Kenya has a long history of living closely with dryland forests and natural resources. Traditionally, honey has been used for food, medicine, and cultural practices.

Today, selling honey provides families with a reliable source of income that helps pay school fees, buy uniforms and books, and support household needs. Honey production also promotes forest protection, reducing reliance on destructive land-use practices.
